MAKING CALIFORNIA A BETTER PLACE TO PRACTICE MANUAL THERAPY
Welcome to the official website of the California Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Special Interest Group (COMPTSIG). We are a special interest group of the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA www.ccapta.org). Our special interest is providing the best in orthopedic musculoskeletal care for healthcare consumers in California through the use of manual therapy, exercise, and education.
Our mission is to serve our members and healthcare consumers in California by elevating the quality of practice and enriching the body of knowledge of orthopedic manual physical therapy through fellowship, education, research, legislation and collaboration.
If you are an orthopedic physical therapist that uses manual therapy daily in the clinic or a physical therapist simply with an interest in manual therapy, then please join us. We would love to have your insights, input, expertise and viewpoints in our forums and at our meetings and we need your support for our on-going legislative challenges. We have much to offer our members. Beyond the warm fuzzy feeling of being part of an organization dedicated to improving clinical excellence in patient care throughout California, we offer our members the following:
- we continuously fight proactively for your rights to practice manual therapy in all of its forms
- a manual therapy forum that allows any member to pose a question with master clinicians available to answer all inquiries
- a clinical pearls section for members to post interesting insights and helpful hints relating to manual therapy in the clinic
- a research pearls section for members to post helpful hints and advice related to all aspects of research
- reviews of clinically relevant manual therapy research articles
- a connection to like-minded physical therapists in California
- a reduced hourly rate for attorney fees for physical therapy related issues
- a quarterly newsletter to help keep you abreast of recent developments in OMPT
- discounts on COMPTSIG courses (recover your membership fee at your first course!)
We thank you for your interest in COMPTSIG and we hope that you see the value in joining other physical therapists in California who share your passion for orthopedic manual physical therapy.

“I have utilized Cardon manual therapy treatment tables in my private practice for 25 years. These treatment tables are reliable, easily adjustable, durable and a very important component of my manual therapy armamentarium. Cardon manual therapy tables are historically utilized by manual therapist throughout the world and are the only tables that I use in my clinic.”
